Atlantic Gastronomy: Characterization and Promotion of Atlantic Gastronomy
The Atlantic Gastronomy Project seeks to explore the gastronomic potential of the Atlantic regions of Spain, France, Ireland, and Portugal, fostering collaboration and sustainable development in these areas.
This initiative aims to lay the foundation for a research proposal through several key actions:
- Conducting a literature review and analyzing information on Atlantic gastronomy.
- Mapping scientific and public sources related to this culinary tradition.
- Identifying successful global case studies that highlight the benefits of diets based on Atlantic gastronomy.
- Interviewing experts from the gastronomy and academic sectors to gain valuable insights.
- Organizing co-creation sessions with representatives from the Atlantic Cities network to define objectives, strategies, and actions that will promote Atlantic gastronomy.
The project’s objective is to establish Atlantic gastronomy as a regenerative tourism attraction, fostering economic, social, and environmental development across the Atlantic Area. This approach aims to strengthen local economies, preserve cultural and natural heritage, and drive social and productive innovation.
As a result of this effort, GOe Tech Center, together with a network of cities and key stakeholders from the four participating countries, has submitted a funding proposal to the Interreg Atlantic Area program, with a budget exceeding €1.8 million.
